I understand your challenge in this career shift. While it is unlawful and short sided to discriminate based upon age, that may not be what is influencing your delays. Unlike many other states, TX has MANY more active licensed NHA and RFCE’s than facilities to operate. This creates an unusually high level of competition for those jobs. Given your medical billing background, it may be prudent to look into a Business Office Manager or corporate revenue cycle position within an organization that might provide a career ladder to a facility leadership position.
